BASKETBALL SCHOOL "TORNADO" Tornado KM – „Viči“ bronze medalists of Lithuanian Championship U18!
April 20th – 21st, Lithuanian U18 championship final4 tour was held in Vilnius. Tornado KM – “Viči” (coach Šarūnas Zablockis) also took place at this great event.
The first step to final four was, when Tornado KM – “Viči” defeated team “Visi Kartu” in playoffs. The opponent in semi-final - eternal and principled rivals – Sabonio KC – “Beko”. During the regular season our players both times celebrated victory against this team. But, it should be mentioned, player of Kaunas “Žalgiris” Martynas Arlauskis didn’t play in both matches. During the semifinal game, first two quarters were quite equal. Though before the third quarter Sabonio KC lead in 11 points, the weapons were not put up yet. Unfortunately, the second part of game players of Š. Zablockis started unsuccessfully. Team Sabonis KC used mistakes and made it to points. Finally Tornado KM – “Viči” had to admit defeat by result 100:69

More important game was waiting for boys on Saturday. The last season at “Tornado” BS – the last chance to win medal of Lithuanian championship. Opponent was Biržų SC – “Šalva” – team that lost in semifinal against Vilniaus KM. Till the third quarter our team was one step in front and had advantage more than 10 points few times. The same situation was in the third quarter. Boys of Šarūnas Zablockis were in front of opponents. The sudden change of game was at the end of third quarter. Tornado KM – “Viči” sped up and got 10 points advantage. Players of Biržų SC try to tried to reduce the difference, but luckily our boys were stronger and celebrated bronze victory! “It wasn’t very easy to get back after such a painful defeat, - said Karolis Babušis. – But, we new, that still there is a chance to win the medal. Thats why we had only one idea – how to win! Opponents were really strong. It was very diffucult with them during the regular season. The main goal was to eliminate leadero of their team. It was bbery difficult in the beggining of game, but when we did that – won thhe game! We played well in defence, opponents made a lot of mistakes, so we scored a lot and now, we are really very happy emnding season and our years in the basketball school with great victory”.

„As I said before season, the main goal was – final4, - said coach of Tornado KM – „Viči“ Šarūnas Zablockis. – Of course, when we came to final4, medal became our new goal. Unfortunatelly, we didn’t cross the semifinal barrier, but now we are really happy with borze medals. At the beginning of season many sceptics said, that we became weaker without one of our leader and our goal – final4, it’s more like dream than reallity. Such a “trash talk” of others, gave us more motivation and strenght to kmove forward. I would like to say thank you for all boys, who hard worked for such a good result we have today. Thank you all coleagues, “Tornado” basketball schools, parents for support. I grew up with this team and I’m very happy today ending our years at school victoriously.
