T. Rakauskas after the tournament in Estonia: Traveling, Living Together, Communication and Even Victories Unite Team and Make It Stronger!

3 – 5 May, 2019 team Tornado KM – 2007 participated in the biggest international basketball tournament in Southern Estonia, Tartu Cup 2019. During four days spent in Tartu, boys not only won the championship but also had a great time.

„I think if you win something in the tournament, best memories remain, - said coach Tomas Rakauskas. The tournament went well from the time leaving Kaunas to returning home. I‘m sure it was a good decision to come to Tartu day before the tournament. Children could rest and it was not necessary to play games directly from the bus. We had half a day before tournament to visit an AHHA Science park. IT takes 3 – 4 hours to explore the whole park. So If you have 2 games per day during the tournament, it’s too difficult to find enough time for such an attraction. Time in the park went really fast. Little bit tired after the trip and full of impressions, children went for a rest before the tournament.

The first game on Friday was against the Louna-Eesti / Raidor team from Estonia. From the beginning of the game everything went well and the boys won the game by 51:29. Second game Tornado KM – 2007 played against a local Tartu team. Players of T. Rakauskas had to hard work during this game, but final gain the victory by result 65:55. Next day Tornado BS team beat Finish Honka team (54:25) and won the first place in the subgroup. Team Marupe SC has been waiting for our team in the semifinal game. “We started game very bad and we were 16 points behind after first quarter, - told coach Tomas Rakauskas. However, from the start of the second quarter we started to narrow the gap and caught up with the rivals.  The end of the game was a real nerve war. We’ve been leading by 3 points and made a fault. Player from Marupes SC team made all three free shoots and the result bacame equal. We had to play overtime. During the overtime game went point to point. Only the last minutes we played more precisely and won the game by the score 64:61”.

Various events of individual skills have been waiting for participants in evening of the second day of the tournament. Players from each team participated in pairs of two. Our players Ąžuolas Hopenas and Dominykas Jasiukaitis won the second place. Also there was dunk contest. Arminas Vilkas also won the second place.

Team Louna-Eesti / Raidor, that has already been defeated in the subgroup game, was waiting for us. “We started game very well, - told T. Rakauskas. -  Even though our opponents had minimized their lagging behind, point by point we were ahead by 20 points after the third quarter and finally won the game by 48:35. As the best player of all tournament and from our team was awarded Arminas Vilkas. In general, my feedback about the tournament are the best. All the living and playing conditions were great, and when we won the tournament, we couldn't get better. I think we’ve got a lot as a team. Traveling, living together, communication, and even victories unite the team and make it stronger. I think after this tournament, we became a real unite team”Džiaugiamės, kad vaikai savaitgalį pasisėmė nuostabių emocijų, sustiprėjo kaip komanda ir parsivežė neįkainojamos patirties, kuri, tikėkimės, padės jiems Lietuvos moksleivių krepšinio lygos rungtynėse jau šį ketvirtadienį, gegužės 9 d. 15:00 val. prieš Sostinės KM III kovojant dėl vietos 2019/2020 m. sezono A divizione.
