Tornado KM Capture Lithuanian U15 Title as Jonas Valančius Explodes for 54 Points

On May 16–17, the Lithuanian School Basketball League (MKL) U15 Final Four took place at the Kaunas District Sports Center in Garliava. The four strongest teams of the season – Tornado KM, V. Knašiaus KM, Kretingos SM, and Sostinės KM – battled for the championship title.

Throughout the weekend, Garliava was filled with a true basketball festival atmosphere – packed stands, emotional battles, and high-level youth basketball created a championship-worthy event. The biggest story of the Final Four was written by the Tornado KM boys, who demonstrated character, maturity, and a true championship mentality. In the semifinal, Tornado faced Sostinės KM in a dramatic showdown. The Kaunas team erased a double-digit deficit, forced overtime, and after an offensive spectacle claimed a 117:105 victory. The undeniable hero of the game was Jonas Valančius, who delivered a remarkable individual performance – scoring 54 points and recording an efficiency rating of 63 to lead his team into the final.

In the final, Tornado KM faced V. Knašiaus KM coached by Vaidotas Pečiukas. From the opening minutes, Donatas Mikulevičius’ squad showed confidence, controlled the game, and secured a convincing 99:81 victory. After the final buzzer, Tornado KM were crowned Lithuanian U15 champions.

Team head coach Donatas Mikulevičius did not hide his emotions after the game: “After a one-year break, we returned to the top of the podium. Throughout the entire season, we worked with purpose and turned last season’s disappointment into incredible joy. Playing in front of a packed arena in Garliava, we showed character and overcame difficult moments. The best feeling is seeing happy kids.”

Kretingos SM captured the bronze medals after defeating Sostinės KM 90:85 in a hard-fought third-place game.

Jonas Valančius and Gabrielius Juškevičius were selected to the All-Tournament Team.
