New Roles, New Opportunities – Tornado KM III Ready U16 Season
2011 | U16 C DIVISION
Tornado KM III

Tornado KM III (2011-born) starts its season today with an away game in the Lithuanian Youth Basketball League U16 C Division.

Last season, the Tornado players finished fourth in their group and earned a place in the playoffs, where they faced a team from Marijampolė.

The roster saw several changes over the summer. Some players moved up and joined the Tornado KM II team, while a few others decided to end their basketball journey. At the same time, these changes have opened up new opportunities for other players and created bigger roles for those who remained with the team. Heading into the new season, the coach is looking for more confident decision-making, stronger chemistry and a continued desire to improve.

– Last season, the team reached the playoffs. What is the most important experience from last season that you would like the players to carry into the new one?

– I would like us to carry over a strong desire to compete and improve in every game. I hope that all the players who already competed in the MKL championship last season will show more confidence this year, make better decisions and help each other both on and off the court.

– The team roster has changed slightly this season. Does that mean there will be more room for other players to take on greater responsibility and new roles?

– We have definitely had some changes in the roster. Although the core of the team has remained intact, we also have new players who will be making their MKL debut this season. One of our leaders from last season, Joris, will now test himself in the B Division, so we are also happy that every year someone manages to take another step forward.

The remaining players will have to redistribute some of the roles. I believe new leaders will emerge, and I also hope the newcomers will pleasantly surprise us.

– What is the main goal for the team heading into the upcoming U16 season – are you more focused on results or on the individual development of the players?

– I want the boys to improve in every sense. The goal is to develop both individually and as a team, and I believe the results will come together with that. If we understand how to play the right way and enjoy being on the court, we will be able to think about the playoffs again.
